“Monetary Mirrors” is a multimedia facade projection conceived as a socio-political narrative about values, currencies, and the international network of money flows. The videographic projection tells of the global relationships that govern money flows and reflects on how currencies shape identities and manifest power structures. Visitors are invited to critically question the role of money as a mirror of societal values and as an instrument of political power.

At the center of the work is the development of the modern currency system, with a particular focus on the US dollar as the world’s leading currency. Through graphic animations and video mapping, the work visualizes the rise and fall of value in the global interplay of economy and society. The animations reflect not only the economic but also the cultural and political dimensions of money.

BACKGROUND
Shadi Jafarbadi’s practice moves fluidly between traditional design languages and contemporary digital media. Her work interrogates socio-political frameworks, drawing connections between economic histories, feminist methodologies, and decolonial perspectives. She thematizes the interdependencies of identity and power, and reviews the legacies of their visual forms of expressions.

MOTHER is a visual requiem, a layered and intimate meditation on skin, soil, and the slow weight of memory. Through dual projections, the work explores the body of my grandmother as a living landscape, creases and wrinkles becoming valleys, folds of skin echoing the textures of scorched earth, dried riverbeds, and flower petals left too long in the sun.

BACKGROUND

Sherazade Al Adhamy is a Tunis-based artist with a background in architecture. She blends spatial design with storytelling to explore memory, place, and digital culture. Her work often emerges through collaboration and community engagement.

BACKGROUND

The ZOMITA Collectif is a multidisciplinary group that blends architecture, design, technology, communication, culture, and anthropology to creatively explore and promote the island’s heritage. The collective is known for its constructive approach centered on Djerbian architecture, urbanism, and heritage photography, emphasizing both local culture and UNESCO World Heritage sites on the island.

ZOMITA organizes the “Djerba World Heritage Days,” which celebrate and raise awareness about Djerba’s cultural and architectural heritage following its UNESCO World Heritage designation. This event includes workshops, guided tours, immersive experiences, scientific conferences, and collaborative projects aiming to preserve and highlight the island’s unique patrimony as a vital part of both local identity and global heritage. The collective’s mission is to honor Djerba’s recent recognition by UNESCO through innovative projects that capture and communicate the essence of the island’s building culture and history, engaging both local communities and visitors.

The ARCHITECTURE Project offers an insightful exploration into the unique architectural heritage of Djerba. It presents a series of public space presentations that delve into the intricate relationship between the region’s environmental conditions, cultural practices, and the architectural forms that have evolved over time. Through this project, visitors will engage with a detailed examination of how local climate, materials, social customs, and historical influences have shaped the distinctive building culture of Djerba. The exhibition aims to foster a deeper understanding and appreciation of the symbiotic connection between people, place, and architecture in this culturally rich and geographically significant island.
